Barbara J. Blimling, 87 of Peoria passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. Born December 8, 1927 in Roodhouse, Illinois to Oswald and Mildred (McGinnis) Crain; she married Robert W. Blimling on March 1, 1949 in Woodson, Illinois and he preceded her in death June 4, 1999. Also preceding in death were her brother, Everett Crain and sister, Virginia Garde. Surviving are her daughters, Beverly (Ed) Satterfield and Brenda (Rick) Gibbons, both of Peoria; her sister-in-law Janet Crain of Jacksonville, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was a clerk in the office of controller at Bradley University for 16 years retiring in 1993. She loved traveling to visit family in California and Florida, enjoyed numerous family cruises, and was a member of the Calvin Coolidge Mothers Club in Peoria. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria and its “His Alone” group. Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. Bruce Dow will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, October 21st at Woodland Chapel. Memorials may be made to the West Peoria Volunteer Fire Department or to COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) in honor of Hunter Crain, Barbara’s great nephew who is awaiting a heart transplant.
