Andrew (Drew) Payton, 63, was born on May 26,1959 to Milton Payton and Rose (Postlewaite) Payton in Peoria, Illinois. His father, Milton Payton proceeded him in death. God saw that Drew was tired and saw fit that his Journey here on earth had come to a glorious end on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Drew met the Lord for his eternal rest.
Andrew graduated from Manual High School. He retired from Keystone Wire & Mill after 25 years of service. Andrew enjoyed basketball, football, chess, bowling, and cooking. His favorite shows were Martin, Westerns, and Sci-Fi movies. He has a lot of special nieces and nephews who loved stopping by watching movies and sports with him. There was many from the community who would stop over to spend time with him. He was the leaning post for many. They could always count on him for anything.
Drew was serious and played with siblings and other family members often concerning cares of life and giving valuable insight. He enjoyed and enhanced his relationships with family and friends through keeping his promises, being bold with the truth and being very open and honest about his prospective about family and friends’ choices. He often taught us the good and bad of things. Drew would point out according to him, what a situation needed in that moment. He would demonstrate in that moment often time what he felt what was needed. Family and friends loved him at all times even when it would be challenging. We often laugh and shook our heads with a smile when he was around. A much-needed link is now gone and will always be missed.
Andrew leaves his beloved mother, Rose Payton of Peoria, Illinois. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the love of his life for 43 years, his wife, Mary (Carter) Payton; one son Twyon Carter; two daughters, Ashley Carter, and Markisha Purifoy, all from Peoria, Illinois; two brothers, Frederick Payton and Talmage (Marion) Payton; three sisters, Kathy Payton, Karen Payton, and Linda (John) Helm and mother-in-law Mrs. Claudia Hampton, from Peoria, Illinois.
