Dear Dad.
It’s been 4 years since you’ve passed. I never saw these comments and pictures of you below until just now. I’m sitting here reading everything and I can’t help but cry. You were such a huge impact on everyone. I don’t think there’s a person alive who had any negativity toward you. You were the best dad, father, friend, husband any guy could have ever been. I find peace in the fact knowing I’ll get to see you again in heaven and if possible I’m going to hug for you an eternity. I wish we could go fishing one more time, I’ve taken on both of our middle name (Shields) as what my friends call me now, I will never be able to compare to you but I hope I can make your name proud. I miss you dad, I love you so much.

Shields Jackson was the kindest and hardest working man I ever worked with at Walmart. When I left Walmart because of Parkinson's Disease and depression. He kept me encouraged. I wish I could have replayed the favor.  When we meet again to a wonderful man a marvelous sense of humor an unexpected friend and a truly unique soul.

I worked with Shields early in my career at Walmart and always remember how personable, funny and kind he always was.  Truly one of a kind.  Many thoughts and prayers to his family.

To the family of Shields Jackson,
I worked with Shields from a distance for several years, supporting David Passmore as his assistant. Shields was a hard working, culture driven, fun loving Walmart associate. I always knew when I talked with him, mostly by phone, that he truly cared about people. I will miss him along with countless others. May God surround you with his presence as you walk through your journey of grief and life without Shields.

I am deeply saddened by this news of such a great man. I wish to send love and prayers to his family and his refrigeration family as they deal with this great loss. I will always remember his ability to lead a crowd of one or one hundred to the right path, all while pulling the best prank you could ever pull on a new associate. Many nights he pulled us through and kept us on our toes. From his night shift friends at Building Controls we will miss you.

After your funeral I went through my call history in my cell phone and looked up the last time I spoke with you 7-26-2014 for 6 min and 52 secs... I stared at that time for 10 minutes, I wish I would have known that was the last time I was going to speak with you. I would have told you....that I respect you very much, I didn't know much about your personal life, but I always enjoyed when you walked up and told a joke or a story, everything just seemed alright then, I will think about you often and hope to hold on  to some of your traits.

Shields, When I think about the many years and conversations working on issues or problems on the phone, the many meetings we attended, the first thing that comes to my mind is a guy that everybody liked and admired. Your intelligent business side and fantastic sense of humor was a great combination. You will be missed greatly. RIP until we meet again.

I remember Shields as a young boy growing up on Colonial Drive. I am happy to know that he influenced so many lives and know his family is proud of the man he became and will miss him deeply. My prayers are with you all.

As I am getting close to retirement, I can proudly say that one of my biggest contributions to our department was hiring Shields. I was very impressed and continued to be impressed as Shields became a regional manager and became a great asset to our department. I remember during one of our meetings years ago when Shields techs presented him with an award. When he came back to his seat he reached out to shake my hand and said thank you, I said for what and Shields said for  hiring me! R.I.P. My friend!

Shields, we worked together as techs when you first came to Walmart. Later, you became my regional manager, & then, after regions were redrawn, we still maintained our friendship. The out of the blue phone calls to harass me about my LSU tigers, or the never fail Christmas card each year are just a couple of the many things that will be missed. Like others have said, it was a privilege to have known & worked with you. You will be sorely missed, my friend. Shields, I first met you back in 1995 when you came to Tafco. We worked side by side and ate many of chicken wings while while working there. You would know what I mean by that. While at Tafco we gave you the nickname " windshield" because you were always wanting everyone's weekend call duty. The friendship that was made there carried over to Wal-Mart where we have worked together for 11yrs. The boss/friendship that you and I had can not be replaced. I'm going to miss your constant search for a prank to play on someone. It's been an honor to be your friend and you will be greatly missed. Roll Tide!

Shields I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with a man such as yourself. Through all the jokes and fun you still led others with integrity. I will miss your laughs as well as your candor. You were able to cut through all the tape while leaving them in stiches. One of the few silver linings after a hurricane was getting to serve others with you. I will miss you and pray that the Lord will keep you until we see you again.
