This is the story of W.R. “Bill” Allen. Bill was a wonderful man that will always be loved, missed, and cherished. Our Paw Paw, as he liked to be called by his grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, daddy, son and grandfather.
Bill’s story starts on February 21, 1943, the youngest child to Robert Owen and Alma Davies Allen. Bill was born in Bonifay, Florida. When Bill was small his family moved to Cantonment, Florida where Bill would spend his childhood, grow up and make many life long friends.
He graduated from JM Tate High School in 1961. Bill served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic from 1962-1966.
Bill met the love of his life Linda Fay Booker and was married at Cottage Hill Baptist Church on October 23, 1964.
After the birth of two of their four children, Bill began a career with L&N Railroad, where he worked as a Conductor and trainman for 32 years. Bill loved his railroading years where he had many great friends and coworkers and often spoke of many memories they made over the years.
Bill loved his family and was always there for them throughout the years. He was an avid car lover, country and southern gospel music fan, but most of all Bill loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Love ones that cleared the path for Bill are his father Robert Owen Allen, his mother Alma Davies Allen, his grandparents and great grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Love ones that will miss Bill until they meet again are his wife Linda Fay Allen, son William David Allen (Kellie), daughter Tammy Taggart (LeRoy), daughter Joyce Marshall (Marvin), son James Carlton Allen, 10 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Sister Peggy Harris (Jimmy) and family.
And so the story goes on until we see Bill, Daddy, & Paw Paw again. We love you and will miss you always.
As Daddy would say “The Gang is all here!
Bill will be laid to rest in Cottage Hill Cemetery.
