Walter Francis O’Connor, age 90, passed away February 16, 2011. Walter was born on Easter Sunday April 4, 1920 in New Haven, Connecticut to Michael F. O’Connor and Mary (Dunleavy) O’Connor.
Walter graduated from Niagara University, and George Washington University where he received a Juris Doctorate and a Masters Degree in Law.
He was a Naval officer during World War II and was part of the Allied Invasion of North Africa.
He retired and held the rank of Lt. Commander.
Mr. O’Connor was a partner in the law firm Crowley and O’Connor in Washington D.C. and held several chief executive positions in banking, finance and manufacturing. He also served on the faculty of Georgetown University.
Pensacola became his residence in 1979 where he became a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Mr. O’Connor was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary, his son Lawrence, his brothers, John, Francis and James.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years Mary L., daughter Jane O’Connor Painter, son Michael F. O’Connor, grandson Daniel P. O’Connor, sisters, Marion Glarum, Nancy McCleery, brothers Ralph and Michael.

A Mass of Celebration will be at 11 AM on Saturday February 19, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Douglas Halsema. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park with full military honors by the United States Navy. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass.
