June 11, 1956 – April 14, 2023
On Friday, April 14, 2023, Vickie Yvonne Peace was called to Heaven by her Savior, Jesus Christ, the One who has healed her of all pain and strife. An amazing woman of deep faith, Vickie was known by a number of different affectionate terms to her family and friends. She was Vickie to her mother (Vickie Yvonne at times), Sissy to her two sisters, Momma to her daughter, Nana to her grandchildren, and Kiki to her sister Penny’s grandchildren; her bonus grands.
Vickie was a beloved daughter, born the first child of Kelly Damon and Christine Evans Peace on June 11, 1956. While her birth was a gift to her loving parents, the true gift of her birth became more and more apparent as future generations of family members were born, and her life was entwined with blessing the lives of each one. Vickie was a woman who loved deeply, completely, and fiercely. If you resided in her heart, you were greatly blessed. As the years passed, being the oldest daughter with two younger sisters, she helped raise, instill faith, and exhibit how to love unconditionally – which is the only way she knew how. Vickie was blessed with her only child, her whole world at the time, a daughter she named Jaime Lynne. Her world and her heart expanded with the births of each grandchild, and each bonus grandchild. She blossomed being Nana and Kiki to the little ones. Vickie was like the sun, and her beloved family circled around her continuously. It is the faith that she demonstrated, and instilled in her family, that will have to sustain us during this time. We were blessed with her, and now Vickie is with God, pain and worry free, and will finally understand her true worth. We will see her again.
Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Kelly Damon Peace, grandfather, Thomas Franklin Peace, grandmother, Gertie Evans, stepfather John E. Reed, and younger sister, Penny Faye Peace.
Vickie is survived by her mother, Mrs. Christine E. Reed, her daughter and son-in-law, Jaime Lynne McKinney (Michael “Mac” McKinney), grandsons Antonio Witt and Brennan McKinney, granddaughter, Isabella Witt, sister, Jackie Peace Dwelle (Robin Dwelle), nephews Jared (Danielle Dwelle) and Nicholas Dwelle, niece Jade Poplin (Rick Ramirez), bonus grandsons Avery Wakefield and Solomon Poplin, and
bonus granddaughter, Layla Poplin. Vickie also leaves behind the one man she loved for nearly 20 years, Richard Carden, and her friend of nearly 30 years, Paula Brantley, who she loved dearly. Both Richard and Paula became family to all of us, and likewise, will see our beloved Vickie again one day in Heaven.
