1920 – 2013
Vera Little Taylor was promoted to glory at Sacred Heart Hospital on August 04, 2013.
She had a great heart for missions and loved to have missionaries in her home.
Vera was a member of “the greatest generation”. During the dark days of WWII she was a loving Navy wife who taught school at Hallmark Elementary as she waited for Glen to come home from the South Pacific. She taught Sunday School for 64 years at St. Mark United Methodist Church, touching many lives for Christ. She loved her church family dearly and her bright and sunny disposition was contagious, bringing smiles to all. People will remember Vera as a godly woman of prayer, being quick to pray for friends and family. She loved to sing, and it was not uncommon to hear her break into a song of praise or to see her sit quietly while meditating on the Scriptures. All who knew Vera were familiar with her words of love and wisdom. She was an encourager and one of those people who spread joy wherever she went.
Vera has left us all a holy example of what it means to have a deep love for the Lord Jesus and what it means to have a servant’s heart. Her family will be eternally grateful for the legacy that she bestowed on us all. We bless her memory.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Glen Taylor and three siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Ann Erwin; son, Darrel Taylor and his wife, Carolyne; grandchildren, David Erwin (Lisa), Jonathan Erwin (Amanda), Mark Erwin, Jesse Taylor and Aaron Taylor (Loretta); great grandchildren, Bobbi Jo, Tiffany, Joshua, Mya and Tarah; sister, Amanda Cherry and brother, Carl Little.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 07, 2013 at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Watson officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 06, 2013 at the funeral home and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
