Toni was born on July 12, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, to Vincent and Louise Matrone. In 1948, she moved to Pensacola with her family, where she later met the love of her life, Rodney Hudson. They married in April 1956 and went on to have five children.
Toni was a dedicated worker who spent many years at JC Penney in the catalog department before continuing her career at Chelsea Title Company, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 70.
In her free time, Toni enjoyed playing bridge at the local bridge club and cooking for her family. She was our biggest cheerleader, and her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. Toni lived a life of kindness and connection, embodying her belief in love and compassion. She never met a stranger and always greeted the world with a smile.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodney; her four siblings; and her grandson, Andrew Mortara. She was the last of her generation.
She is survived by her loving children: Kenneth (Susanna), Marguerite Parker (Michael), Jeanette Mortara (Maurice), Genevieve Griffith (Stewart), and Lorraine Hudson (Shelly); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 28, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 9:00 AM with Father Tom Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Chris Very, Kevin Gibson, Allen Hudson, Seth Hackford, and Steve Dillard.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Leeann LaFleur and Jan Rydberg, the staff at Safely Home, and Vitas Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to our mother.
Her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
