Timothy Robert Burley, 58. Of Fort Walton Beach, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday at his home in Pensacola, FL. Tim was born in Hanover, PA to Harold H. Burley and Catherine L. Burley. Tim graduated from Buckley High School in 1977 and joined the United States Air Force shortly after the same year. Tim began his career in the USAF working Security Forces for three years, where he earned his first Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He then trained and became a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician working on F-15 fighter jets for over 10 years. During this time Tim received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon. Tim finished his career in the USAF as a Crew Chief for AC-130s while stationed at Duke Field. During his time serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Tim earned many letters of commendations. The award that he was most proud of was his Air Force Commendation Medal with Valor during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After separating from the USAF, Tim continued working with the Air Force Civil Service as a Training Doc Supervisor at NAS Pensacola.
Tim is survived by his five siblings: Mike Burley of Buckley, MI; Debbie Smith-Brown (Larry Brown) of Honor, MI; MSgt Dave Burley, USAF (Mary Burley) of Beulah, MI; Brenda Kastenschmidt (Leonard Kastenschmidt) of Honor, MI; and CAPT Rod Burley, USN (Debbie Burley) of Virginia Beach, VA. Tim is also survived by his ten nieces and nephews who he loved very much: Brandon Burley; Naomi Smith; Michael Burley; Nathan Smith, Angela Gouger; Crystal Rose; LT Tony Burley, USCG; Amanda Burley; Aaron Burley; and Katie Burley. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Harold H. and Catherine L. Burley, his brother, Barton Burley, and his niece, Lindsey Morgan.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola, Florida. Following the service, Tim will be brought to his final resting place at Barrancas National Cemetery on NAS Pensacola.
