Thomas Joseph Hayes was born in Cambridge NY to Joseph and Alice Hayes on August 20, 1945. Tom had a wonderful childhood in Glens Falls NY. He grew up in the family home that his father built for them after being stricken with polio. Tom was also a survivor of polio and made a full recovery. He is survived by his siblings, Cathleen DeLuke (Bruce), Timothy Hayes (Linda) and Teresa Hanley (Jimmy).
Tom attended St. Mary’s Academy from elementary through high school. He was commonly known as “curve ball” to his friends as he was a pitcher for St. Mary’s.After graduation, he attended SUNY and graduated with an associate’s degree in accounting. Tom went on to graduate with a bachelors degree from UTEP and finished his education at Thunderbird International school of business in Phoenix with his Masters degree in International Business and Marketing. Tom’s career took him around the world as he proudly would tell people that he had been to 86 countries during his career. He was also bi-lingual, speaking Spanish as a second language.
Tom’s proudest accomplishments were his 5 sons. Patrick Hayes, Kevin Hayes (Kelly), Jeremy Hayes, Owen Hayes and Liam Hayes. He is preceded in death by his son Jeremy who passed at the age of 24 to complications from Wilson’s Disease. Tom was a proud Papa to his 4 grandchildren, Alyssa Ryan, Macy and Brayden and 1 great grandchild, Tino.
Tom is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jackie. They had a beautiful life together in Gulf Breeze, raising their 2 sons Owen and Liam.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze on Friday April 19th, 2024 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the Parrish hall at St. Ann.
