Sue grew up in Pensacola, one of six children born to Lewis Woodrow Clary and Helen Rose Clary.
She was a kind and generous woman who had many “adopted” children. Sue held confidences, had compassion, gave advice and even food, shelter and hugs to her many friends and family, who turned to her in their time of need. She had an inclination towards business, taking the helm for many projects throughout the years. Sue was bright and took this innate ability to run her father’s business at the age of 20, when he passed suddenly, to buying the Handlebar when the opportunity arose. She referred to herself as a tomboy, playing the acoustic guitar, singing, birdwatching, playing softball and tennis. Sue’s welcoming smile will be missed by many.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Lamar III; daughter, Kimberly Sue Lamar; parents, Lewis Woodrow Clary and Helen Rose Clary; and sister, Kay Hobgood.
Survivors include her son, James Wallace Lamar IV (Katya Lane); daughter, Michelle Lamar-Acuff (Karl); grandchildren, Gretchen Lamar, James W. Lamar V and Colin Acuff; brothers, Robert Clary, Woodrow Clary and Thomas Clary; sister, Barbara O’brien (Mark).
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Bayview Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Sue’s Life at 11:30 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 3200 N. 12th Ave. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following Sue’s Celebration of Life Service.
The family would like to acknowledge Ashley Glova, Helen Turner, Lorna Walden and the staff of Covenant Care; their comfort and care meant a lot to Sue’s family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Sue’s name to Covenant Care, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
