Shirley was born in Columbus, Georgia and moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1963, where she called home for 59 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas H. Hughes; parents, Loas Lewis Dukes and Alvie Dukes; brother, Larry Dukes; sister, Peggy Joyce Vollendorf.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Sandra Dukes Vallia (Steve Moore); sister-in-law, Nancy Hughes; brothers-in-law, Johnnie Hughes and Ronnie Hughes; nieces, Cyndi Vallia Omer (Bobby), Theresa Vallia Doidge (Kendrick); nephews, Chris Vallia (Rachel), Sean Vollendorf (Angela) and Erik Vollendorf; great niece, Amelia Omer; great nephews, Austin Doidge and Brandon Doidge; and many friends.
Shirley loved working in her vegetable garden and loved canning what she grew and sharing with family and neighbors.
She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
