Sherry was born on November 3, 1951 in Moultrie, Georgia to Virginia Griner. She and her family moved and grew up in Thomasville, Georgia where she attended and graduated from Central High School. She would always brag about graduating from the same high school as FSU Alum, Charlie Ward, even though she graduated years before him.
Sherry was an avid reader, loved Nascar and loved the Atlanta Braves. She would spend her spare time working in the garden, working on crossword puzzles and writing songs. Music was a true love of hers and she loved listening to Christian music, Motown and to old country. Alabama was her favorite country group, and she was lucky enough to see them live multiple times. Notoriously clumsy, she missed one concert after knocking herself out after walking into a tree. She was very disappointed.
Sherry loved animals of all types, except for spiders, roaches, and snakes. She especially loved her beloved dogs. Scout, Buddy, and Princess were some of her favorite sidekicks and were her loyal companions.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Callie Wilder Rhoads, son in law Robert Rhoads, and three beautiful grandchildren Maya Rhoads, Halle Rhoads and Wilder Rhoads.
As per Sherry’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue and Tallahassee Animal Services.
