As a young girl, Sheila was a member of Warrington Baptist Church and grew up in a Christian household. Her love of the Lord continued throughout her life and strengthened her in her final days. Sheila also attended Pensacola High School, graduating with the class of 1978. Thereafter, she continued her education at Pensacola Jr College and obtained her AA degree in an aviation program. Her goal was to follow in her father’s footsteps, and she entered into the workforce as a civil servant. Sheila worked many positions during her 37 year tenure in civil services, until her retirement in December 2024 from NETSAFA as a financial management analyst.
Sheila spent much of her time as a caretaker for those she loved. She took extensive care for both her father and most recently, her mother, in the months before her passing. She also had a great love for animals, and was a caretaker for many dogs and cats throughout her life. Sheila took great pride in caring for those big and small. Sheila was always prepared for any scenario, she enjoyed collecting items such as glass unicorns and frogs, as well as shopping for anything and everything she may have needed. She was also a lifelong Southern Baptist and loved Pensacola and Gulf beaches.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, James Fox Sr. and Hilda Fox. And is survived by her brother, James “Jim” Harvey Fox, Jr; nephews, Jason Preston Fox and Justin Mitchell Fox; cousins, Kathy Carlay, Mike (Zebra) Green, Kenny Green, Layne (Bev) Holley, Lindy (Bell) Morris, Tish DeYoung; and aunt, Rebecca Fox.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately after at Bayview Memorial Park.
Flowers will be accepted or should friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Sheila’s honor to the BCRF – Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the March of Dimes.
