Covenant Care. The battle for life was lost, but a life was saved for eternity.
Sarah Jane was born February 9th, 1932 in Pensacola, Florida and graduated from Pensacola High School
in 1949. She enjoyed a career in Banking and working at Monsanto, where she met the love of her life,
Dave. She had been a long time and devoted member of Olive Baptist Church.
She served as the Devotional Leader and Ministry Group Leader of her beloved Lottie Sunday School class. She served for many years with The Lighthouse Ministries. After retirement, she worked with The Interfaith Jail Ministries and touched many lives and helped many women. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother and great grandmother.
Sarah Jane was preceded in death by her parents, William Everitt and Lois Everitt; sister, Freddie Bailey;
brother, Charlie Everitt and husband, Dave Mitchell.Survivors include her sons, Rick Merritt and Mark Merritt; granddaughter,Shannon Whiteaker (Chris);great grandchildren, Raegan Whiteaker and Logan Whiteaker; niece, Brenda Seymour and nephews Grover Bailey Jr., Paul Everitt and Keith Everitt.
Funeral services will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 15th. Visitation will
begin at 11:00 a.m. and service at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Passmore officiating. Burial will follow the
service at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Whiteaker, Paul Everitt, Keith Everitt and Grover Bailey Jr.
Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Charis House or Food Pantry at Ministry Village at Olive.
