Samuel Fletcher Johnson Jr., 80, went to be with his Lord on April 19th 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Sam was born and raise in the west Texas panhandle and was proud to be a native Texan. Sam served his country for 3 years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He recieved his B.A. degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado and his Masters Degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
Sam moved to Pensacola in 1975, where he met and married an Alabama girl, Carol Lagrone. They married in 1979. Sam worked as a consulting engineer for thirty years, eventually forming Samuel Johnson Inc. Sam enjoyed woodworking and built many things, but his prized project was his "house on the cliff" on Scenic Hwy. He was a member of Olive Baptist Church and enjoyed working with children and Sunday School projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Johnson Sr. and Hazel Burk Johnson, a brother Bill, and a daughter Kaitlin. He is survived by his wife Carol, a son Jared (Miranda), three grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive guests from 11 to 12 on Friday, April 22nd at Bayview Memorial Park. The service will follow from 12 to 1. Entombment will be at the Bayview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a donation to the Residence Memory Care Center in Sam's name. Sam will be lovingly remembered for his integrity and strong sense of ethics in his business and in his life. He had a kind and gentle spirit and was loved and respected by so many. He leaves behind many laughs, thousands of doodles, hundreds of structures bearing his stamp, and sawdust in his shoes.
