Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Robert and Doreen Grimes. She obtained a master’s degree in special education from Troy State University. She taught at multiple schools in Escambia County, Florida until her retirement.
Sally Moak, a woman of unwavering faith, during her early years attended military non-denominational churches, where she found solace and strength in her spiritual journey. Later in life she became a devoted member of the Baptist Church, immersing herself in its teachings and embracing the community with open arms.
She will be remembered for her sharp wit and magnetic personality. A compassionate soul whose heart overflowed with love and generosity for those around her, she dedicated her life to nurturing and guiding not only her own children but several others providing them with unwavering support and care. Sally’s profound affection for animals, especially her beloved dogs, was evident in the way she showered them with affection and made sure they were always well cared for. Her generous nature knew no bounds and continuously extended a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the true essence of altruism. Sally Moak will be remembered as a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many, leaving and indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald O. Moak, children Kim and Lee Moak and her grandchildren Katie, Stanley, Corey, Sarah, Hunter, Christophe and Kyra as well as her great-grandchildren Rex, Sally and Rebecca.
A funeral service will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 9:30 am at Barrancas National Cemetery. We will gather at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 8:45am and leave in procession at 9:15.
Sally’s family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her name to the Rally foundation for Childhood Cancer Research (rallyfoundation.org). By supporting this worthy cause, we can honor Sally’s memory and continue her legacy of fighting for a better world for all children.
