Ruth Ann Pinner Bates, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 10, 2019. Ruth was born in Jacksonville, FL on January 19, 1937 to Richard Gray Pinner I and Annie Mae Ford Pinner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard Pinner II, and a son Jeffrey Douglas Bates. She is survived by a sister, Rita (John ) Nicholls, Ronald (Quida) Pinner, Randall Pinner, her loving husband of 63 years Dan Bates, Sr., her children: Dan (Ellen) Bates, Jr., Jeanne (Samuel) Tarwater, and Mark Bates, a daughter-in-law Regena Bates, her grandchildren: Brian Bates, Alan Bates, Joseph Tarwater, Andrew Tarwater, Ruth Gravlee, Jacob Bates, Joshua Bates, Kelsey Jablonski, Kaitlin Bates and great-grandchildren: Katy Bates, Samuel Bates, Caroline Bates, Jeffrey Jablonski, George Tarwater, and Mary Tarwater including many nieces and nephews.
Ruth loved spending time with her family and being outdoors. She liked going on hikes along trails and camping. She was also skilled and ruthless at canasta. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting with her quilting friends. She was an avid reader of historical fiction. She was a strong individual and a beautiful soul with a servant’s heart. She also had a successful 18 year career with Gulf Power Company. She was often referred to as “mom” by many of her co-workers. She loved her church, Olive Baptist Church and was known as a “prayer warrior”. Her last words to her family, “I love you all”.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Olive Baptist Church, 1836 E Olive Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the church with interment to follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 W. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL, 32534.
