Butch was preceded in death by his loving father Robert “Bob” Werley Jr. and is survived by his mother Dolly, sister Penny, wife of 28 years, Angela (Enderle) Werley and his 3 children Alyssa Werley, Skyler Werley and Xackary Werley. He was a dedicated family man who deeply loved his grandchildren, Nissa Terrazas, Izaiah Navarro and Addison Werley-Renfro. His love for his family knew no limit and he showed them every day and in every way.
Butch graduated from Desert High School at Edwards AFB California in 1988 where he was a Varsity football player for the Desert Scorpions. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from March 1989 to March 1996. During this time Butch served in Operation Desert Watch, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm as an Avionics Systems Mechanic. Butch met his wife Angela while serving with the 336th Rocketeers at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, N.C. where they became engaged and later married in Del Rio TX in August 1996. In February 1996, Butch accepted an Avionics position with the 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin AFB, Del Rio TX as an integral member of the 47th Maintenance Directorate from 1996-2010. After leaving Laughlin AFB, Butch accepted a position with 12th Flying Training Wing (812 AMXS) in Pensacola FL as a Maintenance Support Supervisor and later went back to his love of Avionics serving as the Maintenance Support Unit (MSU) Supervisor. Butch maintained many aircraft during his career and he loved every one, but none more than the F-15E Strike Eagle.
Throughout his life Butch enjoyed coaching Pee-Wee Football, watching the Las Vegas Raiders, and supporting his Texas Longhorns, but most of all loved being involved in the activities of his children and grand-children. He was an avid collector of vintage bicycles which he loved restoring to their glory. Butch had an infectious laugh and no one could resist laughing with him. His love for movies gave him the uncanny ability to quote any one he’d seen and his passion for all music, especially Metallica, was known by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Butch’s life will be held on January 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida. Military honors will be presented in recognition of his service.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
