Richard David Pitts

November 8, 1948- March 11, 2012

Richard Pitts sadly passed away at the tender age of 63 at 11:23 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 surrounded by family after a long, hard, and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rickey entered this world in Jackson, Mississippi on November 8, 1948 to loving parents Elsie D. and Bobbie N. Pitts. He is predeceased by his parents and very loving sister Sandra McCoy. Rickey was one of three children. He leaves to morn his passing, the love of his life, his wife, Barbara Ann Pitts of 33 years, Navarre, FL. His two children Angela Pitts and Richard Pitts along with wife Maria and only granddaughter Zoe Pitts, sister/brother-in-law, Bonnie (Davie) Talley, brother/sister-in-law, C. Van (Donna) Walker, sister/brother-in-law Annette (Glenn) King and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rickey loved his family, friends, fishing, golfing, playing guitar, listening to music, and watching the Saints and the Packers play football, gathering with lifelong school mates to reminisce about how much fun they had growing up in all their mischievous deeds. Rickey celebrated every day of his life with optimism and gratitude for all of his many blessings. One of his favorite quotes was; Always love yourself and live life to the fullest and learn to slow down and just chill.

After graduating from Tate High School (1966), he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam era. After military service, he was employed as Sears Warehouse, Receiving Manager prior to moving to DeFuniak Springs. He worked with successful real estate developers prior to becoming owner of Action Rentals. His last adventure took him to Navarre, FL as he continued in real estate and entrepreneur whose painting company was always successful and fun.

The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Eldawy, caring nurses and personable staff at Sacred Heart Medical Oncology. We also thank Covenant Hospice for helping so much during the last days.

Services are provided by Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 W. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 850-479-9223. Visitation for family is Thursday, March 15, 2012. 5 pm to 6 pm. Visitation for friends, loved ones, and public from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am with gravesite following.
