Born in Tainan, Taiwan with the given name HSU (SHYU) Fong Wo, she was the daughter of HSU Yu-Ying and HWANG Chin-Ying. She attended school in Tainan, Taiwan. She married Rickey O’Neal, her husband of nearly 50 years, on November 10, 1973. Together they had one daughter, Majestic. Mimi worked for JCPenney for 32 years, first as a skilled alterationist and later as a loved and dedicated sales associate.
Mimi was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She held a special endearment for her Taiwanese family and enjoyed traveling back home to Taiwan. She also enjoyed gardening, landscaping, sewing, making her own clothes, shopping, and decorating her home. She loved animals, especially her white Maltese dogs Josh and JayJay. She will be remembered for her diligence, attention to detail, love for others, and fondness for nature.
She is survived by her husband Rickey O’Neal, daughter Majestic Wheeler (Scott), grandsons Ayden Wheeler and Bryce Wheeler, all of Navarre, Florida, as well as her sister HSU Sulan, brothers HSU Stephen (HWANG Deborah) and HSU Ming-Sing (CHANG Li Hsueh), sister-in-law WANG Fong, and 9 nieces and nephews, all of Taiwan.
She was predeceased by her father HSU Yu-Ying, mother HWANG Chin-Ying, brother HSU Ming-Chu, and one niece.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola, Florida with interment immediately following at Bayview Memorial Park. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, local pet rescue centers, or charity of your choice.
