Michael Jay O'Quinn passed away Sunday, December 30 at his home with his wife, Jennifer “Jennie” lovingly by his side after 2 years of courageously battling cancer. He was so brave and fought very hard for life, determined to beat the cancer.
Mike was born on September 20th 1955 in Augsberg, Germany to Jack and Garnet O'Quinn. He lived in many places with his Military family, especially his beloved Albany, Georgia. There, he attended Dougherty High School where he played football and baseball and was voted Senior Superlative.
He made his home in Pensacola since 1974. He owned Apostrophe Fencing Company.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Jack and his brother, Kelly. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jennifer, his children Taylor O'Quinn, Kyeen Matthews, Carlee Matthews, Jackelyn O'Quinn and his mother, Garnet O'Quinn. Also surviving are his mother in law Mary (David) Raisler, father in law, Allen (Robbie) Ates both of Milton.
His extended family of Aunt Hester Keatley of West Virginia, Toni Wagner of Michigan, Ruby White of West Virginia, Billie Kinder of Pensacola.
He was a member of Avalon Baptist Church in Milton. Michael loved life and made many friends. He was always helping people, donating to friends or family and others down on their luck.
Visitation with a reception will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home 619 New Warrington Road Pensacola, FL 32506 on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10am with Dr. Henry Willett and Rev. Myer officiating, followed by interment at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Pine Forest Road. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
