Maureen Frances McLaughlin (Mrs. Mac), died in her home on Monday May 6, 2019, at age 90. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Donald McLaughlin and son Ronald Wayne McLaughlin. She was also preceded by her parents Charles W. and Blanche Stevens Thomas, as well as her brothers: Grover, James, Ray and Rex Thomas.
Mrs. Mac was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving there since the 1950’s. She and her husband were involved in the bus ministry for over 15 years, and served also as a ladies Sunday School teacher, and in many other areas of the church. She and her husband participated in several building programs over the years. Since 2004, she has had an active Bible study in her home each Tuesday night. She was an humble role model to others and her heart was in leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Mac was born in Victoria, Alabama on October 11, 1928 and was raised in the Allentown community (Santa Rosa County) until settling in Pensacola. She and her husband were married almost 66 years until his passing in 2014. Mrs. Mac was a homemaker and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid seamstress in her day and was employed for 10 years with Bradley’s Bible Book.
Mrs. Mac is survived by two children, Don McLaughlin(Sandra) and Fran Harrison (Donnie) as well as five supportive granddaughters- Jann Garrett (Shane), Allison Clark, Katie Jones (Jerry), Lea Farrington (Casey) and Rachel Brown (Brent). and nine great-grandchildren who adored their “Ma” – Payton and Torrie Garrett, Will and Lexi Clark, Jalyn, Rilee and Noah Jones, and Zadie and Mattie Brown. She also had one great grandson almost here- Collins Farrington due June 8th (Casey & Lea). She is also survived by her younger sister Mary Lemonis, as well as sister-in-laws: Ann Thomas, Nell Thomas and Aileen McLaughlin, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The viewing will be Sunday, May 12th from 3-5pm at Eastern Gate on 9 Mile Rd Pensacola. The funeral will be Monday, May 13th at 9am at Calvary Baptist Church at 6824 Pine Forest Road Pensacola. Pall bearers will be Jerry Jones, Jason Mott, Gary Lee, Chuck Nicholson, Matt Snipes, and Lowell Thomas. Dr. David Shepherd will be officiating.
