Mary is survived by one sister, Pat June Singletary (James Winston) of Pensacola, Florida; two children, Larry Loyd Sims (Shelia) of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Patricia Gail Kramer (Richard) of Pensacola, Florida; five grandchildren, Larry Anthony Sims (Leah) of Knoxville, Iowa; Tara Marisa Dillon (Shannon) of Tupelo, Mississippi; Angela Renee McDonald (Micheal) of Camden, Tennessee; Eric Philip Kramer of Elberta, Alabama, and Kyla Nichole Kramer of Pensacola, Florida; nine great grandchildren, Austin, Marissa, Shanda, Andrew, Jakob, Alex, Nolan, Graysen & Emory.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd "Bud" Sims, her parents, Reubin and Ella Day and three siblings, Ouida, Linwood and Duane.
Mary was born on October 29, 1928, in Cottonwood, Alabama to Reubin and Ella Day. She married Loyd "Bud" Sims on January 19, 1946. They moved to Panama City, Florida in 1947 and were prominent business owners for many years. She became a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in 1949, and was a faithful member until she passed. Her pastor and senior pastor at her time of death were Rev. Brian Kinsey and Rev. Paul H. Welch. After several moves with the military, Bud and Mary relocated to the Pensacola area in 1970, where they started and owned several successful restaurants. Mary was a hard worker, who never had idle hands. Her hospitality was well known, and you never left her home hungry. She always put her family first, and was generous to those in need.
The celebration of Mary's life is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at 10 am. The service will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, 6500 North W Street Pensacola, Florida. Officiating the service will be Rev. H. Bush. All are welcome to attend.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, September 30th from 6-8 pm at BAYVIEW FISHER-POU CHAPEL, 3351 Scenic Hwy, Pensacola, Florida.
