In the early hours of April 2, 2014, Mary Bess Lindquist Bourke, “Becky“, took her final breath and was released from her battle with cancer and taken home to heaven. Born September 19, 1955, in Virginia, she migrated south to Florida where she met and married her loving husband, Jim Bourke, almost 30 years ago. Before her retirement in 2002, Mary was quite involved in the medical field as a CNA and Hospice volunteer. Mary was very devoted to her family and loved them greatly. Her love of food and new recipes kept her in the kitchen creating wonderful dishes while she played with her “many” kitchen gadgets. She so enjoyed the hours spent on the computer Facebooking, playing games and communicating with those she loved and held dear.
For the past several days, Mary had been surrounded with much love and support by family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by both of her parents, Jennie Anne Lindquist Lowry and Dean Clifford Lindquist, and cousin Steve Douthat, she is survived by her husband, James R. “Jim” Bourke, SKC USN (Ret.); son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Nikki Bourke, all of Pensacola; one sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Johnny Blevins, of Pensacola and daughter Mina James of Ocala; cousins Paul Carter of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Tommy Douthat of Clearwater; as well as numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. For those who were unable to attend the service there is a Guest Book online to sign and leave a message for the family at www.bayviewfisher-pouchapel.com.
The family would like to extend very special and heartfelt thanks to Dr. G. Patino and Dr. N. De Joubner and the many Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Baptist Hospital, Navy Hospital and Covenant Hospice who cared for Mary during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate a donation be made to Covenant Hospice located at 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.
