1930-2017
Margie Ann Groover Wolfe was born September 28, 1930 and died August 1, 2017. She was raised by William and Evelyn Groover on a farm in Magnetic Springs, Ohio, with two older brothers, Billy and Hugh. Margie always believed a worthwhile childhood had to include living on a farm. Margie was raised belonging to the Church of Christ.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers. She is survived by her children: Erin Unruh (Rodney), Tobi Peters (Josh), and Joel Wolfe (Laura), and by her grandchildren: Kevin, Megan, Kendarious, and Solange .
Margie started work as a teacher of English, Speech, and Physical Education in central Ohio. In 1959 she married a history teacher, Theodore E. Wolfe and they made their home in Gahanna, Ohio. When her children were older, Margie returned to education as principal of Columbus Christian School. She and Ted moved into the city and opened Orchard House, a halfway house for women released from prison. Margie and Ted retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Margie fulfilled a childhood dream of owning and riding her own horse. They were called to the mission field, and spent two years in Belize helping at an orphanage and pastoral retreat center. Upon returning to the states, Margie and Ted made their home in Pensacola, Florida. Margie worked at the Wallpaper Gallery, Liberty Christian School, Liberty Christian College, Brownsville School of Ministry, and C Apartments, using her organizational talents and making many friends throughout Pensacola.
Margie loved God and she was gifted in teaching and writing. She not only taught as a profession, but she taught in a ministry to women in prison in the Ohio Reformatory and in women’s ministries in churches. She loved teaching the Bethel Series and even taught it in a pastor’s school in India. She and Ted were blessed to belong to various Christian congregations in Columbus, Ohio, Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Pensacola, Florida. Margie spoke and taught to congregations, women, senior citizens, and even youth as she was asked.
Margie felt blessed to pray, worship, and fellowship with brothers and sisters before the Lord.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Arcadia/Andrews Rehabilitation Institute, Peoples Home Health Care, and Covenant Care Hospice for the kindness and care they gave to Margie.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations to be made in her memory to Fire International mission organization in Charlotte, NC (http://www.fire-international.org)
