Margaret Moser Landers, 97, of Pensacola, FL died peacefully at home on May 24, 2016. She was born in Greensboro, NC on November 26, 1918, the only child of Ione Pickett and Cecil Theodore Moser. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA and obtained a Master’s degree from Louisiana State University. She met her husband, Judson William Landers, Jr. at LSU. They were married for 69 years and together they raised four children. They moved to Pensacola in 1984, from Spartanburg, SC. Margaret dedicated herself to children’s education as an elementary school librarian working in Spartanburg public schools for over 35 years. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, and Gadsden Street United Methodist Church in Pensacola. Here she had a ladies’ circle named in her honor. She was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the international honorary organization for women educators. During her retirement years she enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and growing flowers. She also volunteered at Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola for many years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter Marianne Landers. She is survived by her husband, CAPT. Judson W. Landers, USNR (ret) , her son Judson Theodore Landers, daughter-in-law Betty Ann Landers, daughter Susan Landers, son-in-law Phillip Lee Berry, and son Bennett Denson Landers. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Cobi Landers Scurry, Jeremy Greene, David Berry, Anne Berry Pierzchajlo, Laura Berry, and Maggie Burfete.
Margaret was an exceptional person who led an especially good life. She was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Gadsden Street United Methodist Church on Monday June 20, 2016 at 11:00 am.
