Louise was born in Pensacola, FL and is preceded in death by her father, Walter Birks, Sr.; her mother, Erma G. Birks; and her brother, Walter Birks, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Leon J. Mayberry and her twin sister, Nancy Birks.
After graduating from Escambia High School in 1965, Louise joined the Air Force and upon honorable discharge, she enrolled at Livingston University in Livingston, Alabama. After attending Livingston University for one year, on a blind date, she met Leon, the love of her life. On August 19, 1972, they were married. Leon’s job took them all over the United States and 3 trips to Hawaii. Louise especially enjoyed her involvement as a volunteer with the Pensacola Police Department. She enjoyed sewing and making blankets for babies and was a very good cook.
On Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. there will be a graveside service at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL., followed by a communion service at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1 St. Francis Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL with Father Tim Backus officiating both.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the Louise Mayberry Memorial Fund, St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1 St. Francis Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the compassionate care given Louise by the Baptist Hospital staff and the Pensacola Police Department personnel, Trauma Intervention Volunteers and friends and neighbors for their expressions of sympathy and condolences.
