Mr. Barnett was born May 18, 1930 in Paris, Texas to Newt V. Barnett and Catherine Bernice Foster. During the Korean War he served in battle in the U. S. Army. Mr. Barnett retired from International Paper Company and was a member of the Quarter Century Club for the IP employees. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola. Mr. Barnett love playing golf and working in the yard.
He is survived by his wife Jean Barnett of Daphne, AL; son, Lt. Col. Donald Louis Barnett, U.S. Army (Ret.) and his wife, Joelle of Fort Myers, FL; daughter, Julie Barnett Orosz and her husband Joseph of Fairhope, AL; seven grandchildren, Chad Barnett, Samantha Barnett, Sean Barnett, Amelia Porto, Isabella Porto, Grant Orosz and Savannah Orosz; sister, Helen Madugno of Santa Barbara, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 05, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
