She was born in May 1931 in Conecuh County, Alabama and has been a resident of Pensacola, Florida since 1958. She was secretary of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and also a member there for over 40 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Samuel and Bessie Mae Barrow McCrory, her infant son Stephen, her son Mark Phillips, her husband Ray Phillips, and her sisters Sara Parker and Elise Stambaugh.
LaJune is survived by her husband Bill Smith, her son Dean (Joanne) Phillips, grandsons Brian (Rebecca) Phillips, Steven (Ashley) Phillips, and Matthew (Victoria) Phillips, granddaughters Sara (Tom) Phillips, Heather (Jeremy) Bourque, and Kimberly Phillips, her daughter-in-law Lydia Phillips, sister Frances Dees, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for LaJune will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road Pensacola, FL; followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30AM, and a Committal at Pensacola Memorial Gardens 7433 Pine Forest Rd, Pensacola, FL.
