Kyle Reed Calkins was larger than life itself. On December 31st, 2022 Our Father called him home. He will be forever remembered and missed by so many. Kyle was born on January 18th, 1987 at The Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL. to Rebecca Hunt & Johnny Findley.
Kyle was a proud and dedicated soldier. He served our country honorably, both domestically & abroad. From being stationed in Fort Hood, Texas to being deployed in Uijeongbu South Korea, Kyle was a Specialist Corporal for The United States Army. He was decorated with many service medals & ribbons such as; Army Good Conduct Medal/ National Defense Service Medal/ Global War On Terrorism Service Medal/ Korean Defense Service Medal/ Army Service Ribbon/ Overseas Service Ribbon/ Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver and Mechanic Badge. Other achievements & courses awarded were, High Capacity Line of Sight Radios (HCLOS), Army Radio & Communications Security Repair (COMSEC), Test measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), and Small Shelter System...
Kyle obtained his High School Diploma in 2005 and continued to pursue his education at ITT Technical Institute, where he then received his Associates of applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2015. Kyle was a "Whiz Kid" and prevailed in anything and everything that he did. He was a brilliant artist, and a talented musician with the guitar being his instrument of choice. Not only was he book smart, but he was also a Soccer Star. He played for The Myrtle Grove Sharks in 1995 and then prevailed to The 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion Soccer Team in Korea. Kyle seemed to be the best at everything he did, also mastering Jiu Jitsu.
Kyle was a child of Christ to the fullest. He was recently baptized into Catholicism and could not have been happier about it. Kyle spent every day praising the Lord and spreading his word to others. Through the thick and thin, no matter what Kyle held his bible close.
Kyle was a father of two beautiful girls, and cherished them more than anything in this world. He leaves behind Soraya Navallia Calkins and Sacara Avaya Calkins to carry on his name and legacy. He also leaves behind his cherished big brother, Ian Calkins and his beloved fiancé Soleil. Among so many others that will miss everything about Kyle from his contagious smile & laugh to his big comforting hugs.
As most of us know Kyle was suffering from Congestive Heart Failure and Ischemic Cardiomyopathy. Although he passed from end of stage heart failure, nothing about Kyle's heart was weak. Kyle was surrounded with love when he took his last breath on New Year’s Eve. Shall we all try and remember that Kyle is free from all pain and suffering now.
A Visitation for Kyle will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506.
