Kathy (Kate) Marie Warren (1953-February 17, 2023) passed Friday at age 69. Kate was born in 1953 to Irene and Brodis Franks, in Savannah Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Martin in 1978 with B.S. degree in education. Kate taught as an elementary and middle school teacher in Shelby County, Tennessee for over 30 years. After teaching, she pursued her passion of writing, publishing Fingerprints on the Pew in 2020.
For years, Kate and her husband, Ed have been dancing together, originally pursuing ballroom as a hobby that over time became synonymous with their relationship – A dance together. In 2012, Kate and Ed relocated to the Gulf Coast where they discovered a second life together. Together they could often be found at beach overlooks or on their sailboat, the “Nauti Girl,” drawn to the natural wonders of the ocean. As they grew into their new location, they also firmly entrenched their roots onto the rock of God’s love through connection and fellowship at Olive Baptist Church. Together, they grew closer to God and developed a community of unforgettable friendships.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Brodis, her mother, Irene, her sisters Alta, and Ruth, as well as her brother Jerry. She leaves behind Edward Warren, her husband of 50 years; Her son Paul (48), his wife Amber and their children Haley (15) and Savana (12); Her son Matthew (37), his wife Amanda and their children Andy (3), Madison (8 months); and her sisters Lee Williams, Dee Forbes, Linda Lambert, and Shirley Brown. She leaves behind and will be forever missed and mourned by her sheltie Tango, who has been steadfastly by her side for the past 13 years.
The family will receive guests between 1pm and 2pm on February 22nd at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel (3351 Scenic Highway), with a public celebration of Kate’s life to follow at 2 pm.
