Kathryn Elizabeth (Taylor) Leach was born to Irvin Omer Taylor and Flossie Marie (Lenhart) Taylor on August 4, 1922 in Lakeview, Logan County, Ohio. Kathryn (Kay) passed away in Rogersville, Missouri on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the age of 101.
The family moved to Wapakoneta, Ohio, where she graduated in 1940 from Blume High School. She worked at several local companies before being hired as a secretary at Westinghouse in Lima, Ohio. It is there where she met James (Jim) Gordon Leach. They were united in marriage on April 12, 1947, in Lima. They moved multiple times to six different states during their 42 years of marriage due to Jim’s work at Westinghouse.
Kay became a wonderful, devoted stay-at-home mother to her three children. Once her children were grown, she went back to work as an Administrative Assistant at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church where she was baptized. She also helped at various community organizations. Jim passed away on December 20, 1989.
Kay moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to her daughter and family, where she attended Parkcrest Baptist Church. She was an avid card player. Bridge, Euchre, Rummy, and Solitaire were her favorites.
Kay is survived by sons: James (Elaine) Leach, Michael Leach, daughter Karen Stiles (Danny Weiner), nephews: Douglas (Beverly) Leach, Mark (Jodi) Taylor and Scot Taylor, grandchilden: James (Bonnie) Leach, Jr., Charley (Mindi), Sean Leach, Jackie (Ty) Cauble, Lindsay (Kyle) Chalmers, Taylor (Katie) Leach, Scottie (Nicole) Stiles, Austin (Emily) Stiles, Karissa Stiles and 14 great-grandchildren.
Everyone loved “Grandma Kay”.
There will be a visitation for Kay on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, 10:00-11:00 AM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole St., Springville, MO, with the service following at 11:00 AM.
There will also be a 10:00 AM visitation and 11:00 AM service at her final resting place on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32503.
