Kathryn first and foremost loved her Lord and Savior. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She retired from J. C. Penney’s after 19 years. She was a faithful member of the Family Worship Center.
She passed away peacefully on Wednesday night, February 9, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon, parents, Eddie and Katie Hendrix, her sisters, Juanita DeMarcus and Myrtle Morris, her brothers, Edward and Mark Hendrix.
She is survived by her sons, Leon, Jr. (Sandra), Sheldon (Kaye), and Keith (Regina). Also surviving her are brother, Gene Hendrix (Brenda), sister, Shirley Wallace, sisters-in-law Glennie Colbert and Linda Cook (Ronnie), grandchildren, Tammy Colbert-Stephens, Angela Cochran, Christy Schiffer (Brent), Jennifer Rogers (Nicholas), Kevin Colbert (Judy), Kristopher Colbert, and Kameron Colbert; her great grandchildren, Heather Bradley (Brandon), Jordan Brown, Whitney Brown, Savannah Schiffer, and Amelia Schiffer, Leon Yongiun Colbert, Johann Kim, Juliet Colbert, and Olivia Colbert; her great-great grandchildren, Brody, Brooks and Braxton Bradley; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to express our thanks to Shelton Manor Assisted Living Facility and Vitas Hospice in the care they gave Kathryn.
Leon, Sheldon, and Keith would like issue a special thank you to Kaye for all the care she gave Kathryn. We will never be able to repay or express how much we appreciate all she did, over and beyond her own needs. We love her so much for all the love and care she showed to our mother.
Kathryn will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., February 16, 2022. Because of Covid, there will only be a graveside service with Pastor Julian Walker presiding. We would like to request those in attendance to please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your favorite charity.
Everyone who will be attending the graveside must be at Eastern Gate Funeral Home by 8:50 a.m. You must be in line to be able to go through the gate before the procession leaves at 9:00 a.m.
