Mrs. Dearinger was a native of Pensacola, Florida and grew up in a home on 12th Ave. with her parents, Lowery L. Sparks and Jeannette Farine Sparks; and two brothers, Lowery Lee Sparks, Jr. and William Thomas Sparks. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1936, where she met her husband, Farrell. They were married at Sacred Heart Cathedral on June 21, 1939 and remained devotedly so for 52 years, until his death in 1991. Katherine was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church since her childhood. She could be found in the front row of Sacred Heart Cathedral each Sunday until she and her husband moved to Warrington, where her front row presence continued at St. Thomas More Church for over 25 years. She was an ardent golfer, a valuable friend, an eager gardener, an enthusiastic traveler, and a punctual and devout Mass attendee with an unwavering faith that spanned her lifetime. For almost 50 years, the end of Katherine’s day was celebrated with a Bloody Mary made specifically with Clamato juice. Katherine was a member of St. Thomas More’s Legion of Mary and also volunteered her time at Sacred Heart Hospital as a Pink Lady. She was a member of the Order of the Cornette of Sacred Heart Health System. Katherine’s mainstay was her faith and her family.
Survivors include Katherine’s daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Richard Erickson of Jacksonville and Janet and Bob Stocker of Pensacola. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Haven of Our Lady of Peace for their care and to Katherine’s sitters, Terrie Dukes and Bernice Samples, her devoted friend.
