Joshua Hayes Burris was born to William and Karen Burris on February the 2nd of 1987 in Pensacola, Florida. He graduated from Pace High School May 22, 2004. On July 31st of 2008 he received his degree in Aeronautic Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in the State of Florida. He made his first solo flight on August 21, 2008. He was a gifted pilot. He was baptized at Pace First United Methodist Church where he was a member. He believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid fan of cars and motorcycles and was a member of Gulf Coast F Body Car Club. He was a PADI Enriched Air Certified Diver and had dove in many locations. He loved Florida water sports, including saltwater fishing with his Dad and jet skiing. As a young boy he enjoyed camping and tubing with his friends and family. He had a deep love for animals and considered Boa, his dog, his best companion. He had a big heart and loved to help others. Josh loved his grandparents and brought much joy to them. All who knew him will miss his infectious smile and wit.
Survivors include his parents, William David Burris and Karen Patricia Burris; grandparents, Abbie and Lowell Duce, and Charlene Padgett; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Josh was proceeded in death by his loving grandparents; Howard H. Burris & Mary E. Burris.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 07, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with the Rev. William W. Stoudenmire officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bryan Mixson, Christopher Maloney, Tim Shottner, Doug Coleman, Stephen Volheim and Daryl Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jerrod Hunter and James Bragan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 06, 2018, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
