Dr. Jon Reed Wagner passed away Oct. 23rd at the age of 83. He was discovered in his home in Singapore by his daughter-in-law where he resided with she and his son Jason Wagner since 2009, after his retirement as a dentist in Pensacola.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan and his beloved wife, Sharon who passed away in 2012. He is survived by children, Suzanne Wagner Gibson who lives in Gulf Breeze and her four children, Lance, Lauren, Jonny & Jennah and his son Jason, who splits residence in Singapore and Vietnam.
Jon was a man with a lust for life and a constant quest for knowledge. He could build just about anything, was a gourmet chef, a lover of all genres of music and art and was an avid reader and historian. He was a dentist by profession beginning his career in a small Wisconsin farm town after graduating from dental school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. After 15 years in practice there, he and his wife Sharon and 3 children moved to Pensacola to be closer to Sharon's parents, escape the long cold winters, and be closer to the Gulf of Mexico where he pursued the sport of billfishing. He built a successful dental practice and eventually limited his practice to implant dentistry and full mouth reconstruction. He became very eminent in this field and lectured around the world on dental implantology.
Jon was a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) The Academy of Implants and Transplants, The Academy of Implant Prosthodontics. and achieved Diplomat status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology and lastly, an examined diplomat and founding member of the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI). The crowning moment of his career.
After 40 years in practice Jon & Sharon moved to Singapore in 2009 to live with Jason and his wife Onchan. He enjoyed a vibrant life full of adventure and love. Many of his patients became lasting friends and some traveled to Singapore to visit him. He was a loving father and grandfather and will sorely missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Hwy, Dec. 22, 2018 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers he asked that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity. habitat.org ~ mouse over "Support" Click "Honor and Memorial gifts" Orange box to donate.
