Jon started his career as a lifelong truck driver after discharging from the US Army as a young man. He spent his career in both long haul and short haul trucking, cleaning and polishing his big rig and traveling anywhere the road took him. Because of his hard working nature, Jon remained working full time until his illness led him to retirement four years ago. He always enjoyed socializing and meeting new people as he traveled and never met a stranger that he couldn't befriend! In his retirement, Jon continued to keep himself busy by fixing things around the house and tinkering in the garage.
More than anything, Jon was proud of his family. He didn't ever miss an opportunity to boast about his children and grandchildren. Jon is survived by his spouse of 59 years, Sandra Gordon; his children, Jon (Canice), Jim (Marti), Julie and Janna (Jonathan); five grandchildren, Randy, Ethan, Avery, Reagan and Reese; brothers, Tim, Mark, David and Steve; sister, Sue; along with many nieces and nephews. Jon is preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael and Jack; as well as his both of his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 2pm at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. The family invites friends to join them for a gathering that day beginning at 1pm.
