John William Stokes, Sr.

He was born to Grady and Anna Stokes on November 9, 1957 in Sherman, Texas. He was a loving and caring son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John had a kind and tender heart. He never turned a friend or family member away when they were in need even if this meant he was struggling himself. One of his best assets was his carpentry. He could take a simple piece of wood and create a masterpiece. His skills will be greatly missed, especially by his family. He also loved fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons. His family is at peace knowing that he is now with our lord and

his loving mother in heaven.

He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Stokes.

He is survived by his father, Grady (Bobbie); his children, John (Jodi) Stokes, Jr., Jennifer Stokes, Zachery (Jen) Stokes, Joseph (Mariah) Stokes; and grandchildren, Justin Stokes, Joshua Stokes, Stephanie (Jazz) Stokes, Courtney Stokes, Jessie Howell, Miley Stokes, Briar Stokes, Kaiden Stokes and River Stokes; one great grandson, Carter; siblings, Susan (Craig) Williams, Patsy (Barry) Reeves, Debbie (Gregg) Hightaian, David (Samantha) Stokes, Jimmy (Lori) Stokes; 13 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the memorial service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
