1942-2023
John left this life on November 27, 2023 to be received into a better place after an extended illness.
John was born on September 28, 1942, in Orlando, Florida; the first born of five children. His family moved to Sebring Florida in 1951. He was raised in the Sebring area and graduated from Sebring High School in 1960. He attended the University of Florida where he found the love of Architecture. He moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1962. He graduated from Pensacola State College. After interning he passed the state boards and received his licenses to practice architecture in Florida and Alabama. In 1976 he opened his Architectural practice. His work can be seen along the gulf coast from Panama City, Florida to Mobile, Alabama and as far north as Birmingham, AL. His practice evolved until he began specializing in Condominiums ranging in height from 2 stories to 32 stories. He has been published in Southern Living magazine and the Condo Owner Magazine; his clients and his projects have been published in numerous construction publications. He won several local architectural awards.
John took great pride in the fact that most of his clients were repeat clients with multiple projects being designed for each. John was most proud of the longstanding relationship he had in the design of the Phoenix Condominiums in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. This client relationship lasted over 40 years.
During his life he was a member of numerous professional and civic organizations. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) since his registration. He was a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) the Northwest Florida Chapter for 20 years. He was a member of Toastmasters for over 10 years serving as the Area IV Governor and then the District 29 Governor and receiving a Distinguished District award. He was appointed to the Escambia County Construction Competency Board as a member and Chairman for 11 years. He has been a member of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce for 10 years.
John enjoyed sailing and camping. He particularly enjoyed traveling in his RV and tailgating at the University of Florida football games. John was an ardent Gators fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John M. Senkarik Sr. and Irene Lois Senkarik.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 31 years Shannon Michelle; Sisters Barbara Alice Krause (Robin), Patricia Diane Sassner (Norman); brothers Robert Pierce (Donna), Jerry William; Children Deanna Lynn Linton, John Pierce Senkarik (Allison), John Marshall Senkarik (Jaime). Stepchildren Corbett Lane Futral (Jordan), Tyler Leslie Moreira (Jillaine), 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 am on January 12, 2024 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida. Burial will be in Bayview Memorial Park, Pensacola.
