Vicky, I am deeply sorry for your loss.  I just found out from Rita that John had passed.  Such a tragedy.  He was a good son to his loving parents, and a good man.

I met Vicky and John working at Seville Quarter in the early 80's, when I met them I knew I found good friends. To see the amazing words friends, former students, co-workers have written about John and his passion for life gives me a vision of the last 30-some years of his life.  John was a gentleman always with that gentle smile. My thoughts and prayers to the Julian Family, may his memory fill your hearts with peace.

I remember many a night sitting with John, John Ogden, and Mike Ports listening to music, discussing life, and finding a way to navigate.  We lost John Ogden early but the memories will last forever.

I was lucky enough to teach with John in the early part of my career; he was always helpful and willing to share his experience and wisdom with me, and it's saddening that he's gone so fast. You are missed immeasurably. RIP.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. He and I were classmates in Smithville, Ohio.  With only 105 in our graduating class, we all knew each other fairly well, and he was a friend to everyone.  He was quick to smile and laugh, and you could tell he genuinely enjoyed the company of everyone around him.  I heard at our 35th reunion that he was ill, and I could tell that several in our class had been keeping in touch with him over the years.  It's so comforting to read all these heartfelt posts from his students.  My deepest condolences go to them and his family.  God bless you for surrounding him with your love.  He will live in your hearts forever.

Mr. Julian was one of my favorite customers.  He was always friendly and patient.  Even after his illness became apparent he was most considerate of others. Always a courageous human being.  We loved him.

I never had Mr. Julian as my teacher, but my brother and sister did.  He motivated them to do great things.  I remember him always standing outside his door greeting students and having conversations with everyone. He was personable and loved teaching. As a teacher myself now, he inspires me to go above and beyond for my students and to keep a positive attitude at work.  He will be missed, but his legacy lives on through the eyes of the students he has impacted. May the perpetual light shine upon him.

Mr. Julian was always a kind and gentle man with a passion for his craft of teaching.  He always spoke a kind word or gave a pleasant greeting of the day.  Even through his illness he would smile and never missed the chance for a short chat.  He was missed from the halls of EHS these past few years and will definitely be missed from the school of life.  Rest easy Mr. Julian, God's got you.

Mr. Julian helped me through one of the hardest years of my life. I'm ashamed to say that there was a period of time when I lost my way and was content in letting everything that was once important to me slip away. Mr. Julian reached out and motivated me to keep going and to keep striving to attain the goals I had been so ready to discard. He was kind and insightful, and every one of his students could see how passionate he was about his career. Mr. Julian was a great teacher, and an even greater man.

So sorry to hear this news. John was an inspiring teacher, a terrific mentor, and a wonderful friend. What a terrible loss, but what a privilege to have known him. The world is a poorer place without him.

John was witty, kind and had a strong desire to touch the lives of the young people who came into his life.  I sincerely appreciate his teaching abilities, for my youngest daughter was fortunate enough to be one of his pupils.  As a colleague, I enjoyed his quick wit and his ability to see things the way they truly are.  My condolences to his family.  I will keep you all in my prayers.

I was fortunate to work with John at Escambia High School and to stand with him on the picket lines during difficult times. He was a great teacher who was beloved by his students. My thoughts are with the Julian family during this most difficult time.

As a coworker I always know John to be a caring and concerned for his students.  You could not have asked for a better person to touch the lives of the students he taught.  He has been missed these passed few years at EHS due to his illness and will be missed even more now as he is at rest.  Here's to all the lives you have made a difference in John!  You were the best in education and in your human spirit toward everyone.

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Julian for both freshman and junior AP English. Much of what I love in art and literature, and what I can see of life reflected back out of pages, I learned from the texts he gave us and his enthusiasm and joy in teaching. Thank you, John Julian.

Mr. Julian was a great introduction to high school when I had him as a freshman, and he did a wonderful job opening my eyes to the adult world of literature in AP English. I can still picture him standing in front of the class after we took a discussion off topic, saying "my turn,  my turn". It took a special man to keep a room of teenagers on track day after day. He made projects interesting and treated us as adults. I'm so sad to hear that he passed away, but because of him, I'll always have great memories when I hear of Hemingway or Shakespeare. Thanks, Mr. J, you will always be remembered in the hearts of your students.

I graduated from EHS in 2003, and still have fond memories of being in Mr. Julian's English honors class my freshmen year. He had a great sense of humor and made the class fun and interesting. He is one of my favorite teachers that I ever had. My condolences go out to his family.

I graduated from Escambia in 2004.I did not have Mr. Julian as a teacher, but I do remember him in the halls always smiling. I feel like I knew Mr Julian because of all the people who constantly talked about him. They said he was not only a wonderful person, but one of the best teachers a student could have. Prayers go out to everyone. He has touched all our hearts in some kind of way.

Mr. Julian was such a wonderful teacher.  I only had him for one grade in high school but his English class was the only English class I was ever able to laugh and learn at the same time in.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

I only knew John a couple of years, but long enough to know and appreciate his wit and keen intelligence and love of education. He will be missed by many.  My sympathy goes out to his family.

I graduated in 2008 and I still talk with my friends about how much fun Mr. Julian made our highschool English class. His class was the highlight of my day. Mr Julian's enthusiam for teaching (especially Shakespear) and love for his students made him one of the most  amazing teachers that I was lucky enough to have. His family will remain in my thoughts and prayers. You have my deepest sympathy.

Mr. Julian was one of my favorite teachers at Escambia. His Junior AP English class was my favorite class at Escambia. His devotion to teaching high school english came through everyday in his class. From class discussion to group projects, he made an everlasting impression. I still tell stories from that class. He will be remebered fondly and greatly missed.

Mr. Julian was single-handedly my favorite teacher of all time.  He had a great sense of humor, was highly intelligent, and genuinely cared for teaching and his students.  The world is a little less bright with him gone.  God bless you and your family.

I had the pleasure of having Mr. Julian twice at EHS. I remember most of my teachers but he held a special place in my heart as a kind, understanding, funny man and an outstanding educator. It is thanks primarily to him that I read as much as I do thanks to him sparking my interest in literature my freshman year. He will be dearly missed.

Mr. Julian was my English Honors professor at Escambia High. He was one of my favorite teachers during high school. He inspired so much in his students and he left a lasting impression on all who entered his classroom. Mr. Julian was a great teacher. He knew how to get through to his students. He realized that I was seriously depressed through reading my assigned papers. He helped me to seek help. He was my teacher in 1996/97 and I am still upset and shakenend by his passing. He will be greatly missed.

I was one of Mr. Julians students, class of 2003, who is greatful to have known Mr. Julian and blessed to have such a wonderful and caring mentor. He taught his students with love and enthusiasm and went out of his way to insure his students were grasping the material and made one of the less desirable subjects, fun and interesting. He was a gifted educator and a true role model for his students. He will be missed and his memory of my highschool adventure will always be charished.
