July 1928—March 2022
John W. Haber, age 93, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully at home.
Johnny lived a wonderful life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Having grown up on a Molino farm and graduating from Tate High School, he worked 36 years at Southern Bell/AT&T/Lucent Technologies and served as president of CWA Retired Employees 3109.
Johnny was active in AT&T Pioneers’ Hug-A-Bears, handmade bears given to children in traumatic situations, PJC Seniors and Golden Ager’s. He won numerous medals in the Pensacola Senior Games, was a 20 gallon blood donor and attended monthly Tate High School luncheons. Above all, he enjoyed being a 60-year, faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served on the adoration team and head of ushers.
He loved everyone and everyone loved him so much. Famous for his straight-faced jokes until bursting into laughter, expert word and puzzle solving, auto mechanic and home repairman skills, lighthearted joyfulness, mullet cooking skills and Saturday night hamburgers, he will be greatly missed.
Johnny was a loving patriarch, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend.
He has gone to be with his loved ones in heaven, and we look forward to joining him there one day where there will be no more tears and no more pain.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Frieda Haber (Cedar Town, Molino, FL) his brothers, Mike, Carl and Bob Haber, half-sister Elizabeth Newberry, first wife Nancy Anderson Haber, son Drew Haber, grandson Jamie Haber, second wife Mary T. Haber and step-grandson Daniel Pape.
