Joan Carol Kranak, 86, was unexpectedly called to our Heavenly Father on February 21 2021. Joan was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Fingal and Helen Johnson on January 4, 1935. She married her hometown sweetheart, John, in June 1955. As a Navy wife, she spent 22 years with John at many duty stations in the United States and Guam. Over the years, Joan enjoyed bowling, golfing, volunteering, and traveling in the United States. In volunteering, she helped establish the library at Little Flower School and worked with the Pensacola Open.
Joan was a devout Catholic and had a strong faith in God dedicating her services at both Little Flower and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches. The most fulfilling was that of being a lector, proclaiming God’s word.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, John, her daughter, Elizabeth, her brother, Charles Johnson, and her sister, Cathy Pistey. She is survived by her children, John Kranak, Jr. (Debbie), Joyce Roberts (Rick), and David Kranak (Tammy); eight grandchildren (Jessica, Matthew, Yolana, Bradley, Kevin, Brian, Kayla, and Dawn); and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM by Father Tom Collins. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saint Vincent de Paul. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
