Jessie Duffee Mathews

Jessie Duffee Mathews was born on March 4, 1930 in Mobile, Alabama. She passed away on September 14, 2023 in Pensacola, Florida after a brief illness. She lived her childhood and teen years in Mobile, Alabama.

She was a graduate of Murphy High School in 1947 and married Orren Jefferson Mathews in April of 1948. She spent most of her life in Pensacola, Florida. She held various jobs during her working career including Southern Bell, Chemstrand, and Pensacola Greyhound Park. In her retirement years she was a volunteer with Emerald Coast Hospice in Pensacola, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Orren Jefferson Mathews; her parents, Hamilton Duffee and Jessie Duffee; and her sister, Claire Curry. She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Mary) Mathews, Paul (Trish) Mathews; 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice of Pensacola.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel on Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida. Visitation will be at 12 noon with the service to follow at 1 pm. Reverend Brian Mathews will be officiating.
