On January 17, 2024 Jeanette Ammons Carroll left this earth peacefully at her home at Oakwood Village in Zachary, LA, for her eternal home with her Lord and Savior. Jeanette was born on December 19, 1936 in Westville, FL where she was raised by aunts and uncles after the death of her parents at a very young age. She married the love of her life, Herman “Nix” Carroll in June of 1954 and they raised 2 children in the Pensacola area where she lived until 2007 when she moved to Zachary, LA to live near her family the rest of her days. She retired from Monsanto in 1991. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of
Eastern Star in Ensley, FL Lodge 278. She loved to travel and shared wonderful memories of traveling all over the US and the world with dear friends and family. She was an avid hospital volunteer in both Pensacola and Zachary, and was a member of Gonzales United Methodist church in Gonzales, FL and Zachary United Methodist Church in Zachary, LA. While life here was not always easy for Jeanette, she is remembered by so many for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She loved her family immensely and was dearly loved by all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband Herman Nix Carroll, parents Ardella and Oliver Ammons, sisters Eloise, Christine, Mary Ellen and Jewel, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is survived by daughter Denise Giles and husband Wade Giles, son Bruce Carroll and his wife Kay Carroll. She leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Joey Giles and wife Kimberly and Robin Oceguera and husband Marc; as well as 3 great grandchildren Alex Giles, Sam Giles and Charlotte Oceguera and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024 with the Order of the Eastern Star services beginning at 11:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Kate and Rita; Diane for taking care of and loving Jeanette as if she were family. Also, special thank you to the staff at Oakwood Village in Zachary, LA and Hospice of Baton Rouge for the care and support of our mother and grandmother.
