Dr. Still was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1943, and then moved with his parents to Pensacola, Florida at the age of 3. He was a graduate of Escambia High School Class of 1961. After graduation he attended the University of Florida and received his B.S. in Chemistry in 1965. From there he pursued and was awarded a medical degree from the University of Miami in 1970. He served an internship at the University of North Carolina from 1970-1971 and did his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Florida from 1971-1973. He was a practicing anesthesiologist in Pensacola, Fl until his retirement in 2017.
Dr. Still was an Eagle Scout and served his country as a Captain in the Airforce Reserves from the early 1970’s until he was honorably discharged in 1987. Later in life, he became a second-generation Mason in the State of Florida; something he was very proud of.
He had a variety of interests and hobbies including a love of photography, music, working on his street rods, motorcycles, travel, researching his family history, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Still, Sr. and his mother, Marion Cline Still. He’s survived by his wife, Patricia H. Still, sons Eddie Still (Kirsten Grumet), Jeff Still (Susan Still), stepson, Kevin Haynes, three grandchildren: Brooklyn Mercer, Jacob Still, Chloe Still and one great-granddaughter Esme Mercer.
A celebration of life will be held at Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel, Bayview Memorial Park, at 2:30p.m. on Thursday, February 10th.
