James Alfred Pratt, age 61 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at home in Pensacola, following an unexpected critical illness. He was born March 14, 1963, in Dover, DE. Following high school graduation, Jim joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for most of the 1980’s, achieving the rank of Senior Airman.
In Jim’s return to civilian life, he resumed his career as an auto mechanic and continued his love of cars. He was an avid and advanced billiards and darts player, winning many individual and team trophies. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and AmVets. Jim was a son, brother, uncle, husband, Pop Pop, son-in-law, brother-in-law, friend, secret keeper, confidant, employee, teammate, animal lover, and Veteran.
Jim and Amanda met as competitors in a mixed couples billiards league and were together for 21 years. 18+ of those years as husband and wife following their marriage in April 2006, in Las Vegas, at a drive thru wedding chapel. They shared adventures, traveled, enjoyed many years of dart and billiards league participation, shared a love of movies, classic rock, and classic cars.
Jim is survived by his wife Amanda, daughter Kari Scott, grandchildren Logan, Laila, and Riley Scott, mother Helaria Pratt, sisters Lorie (Rodney) Rani and Sheri Danser. Loving family Donna Waldroup, Stan Waldroup, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father Jessie Ray Pratt, sister Judith Ann Pratt, and dearest friend Sherry Orsech.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jim’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN
A visitation to honor Jim’s life will be held at 11:30 am on September 3, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 N New Warrington Road Pensacola, Florida 32506. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at Barrancas National Cemetery, onboard NAS Pensacola
