1937 – 2012
James Harwell Doherty, 75, a longtime resident of Pensacola, passed peacefully after a long illness Monday, November 05, 2012 at Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Doherty of Hattiesburg, MS and his mother, Mrs. Mildred H. Sword of Mobile, AL.
Jim was born August 14, 1937 at Hattiesburg, MS and was a graduate of Murphy High School, Mobile AL and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. He was a veteran of the United State Navy. Jim loved Pensacola so much that after his military service he never left.
Jim worked as a purchasing agent for Reichold Chemical and later as a technical writer for Jana.
Jim Doherty is survived by, Linda, his wife of 25 years; daughters, Tracie Corley (Bob) and Shea McGraw both of Pensacola; brother, Robert S. Doherty (Linda) of Decatur, AL; two grandchildren, Derrick Taylor Corley and Kathryn Taylor McGraw; and several nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 08, 2012 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
Entombment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Robert Doherty, Robert Corley, Derrick Taylor Corley, Dan Kranjec, Kirwan Price and Tom Hunt.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
