Pensacola – James Robert Caraway, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2019. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on July 12, 1928 to James Irvin Caraway and Willie Laventrice Clardy Caraway.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years and the love of his life, Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Caraway, son James Robert “Jim” Caraway, Jr, and grandson Joseph “Cody” Brown, brother Willie “Irvin” Caraway and sister Laventrice “Ann” Caraway Sanford.
Bob was a truly gentle and kind man whose life was one of love and service to his family, his friends and his occupation. He is remembered for how deeply he loved, and for his kind heart. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many. It is a wonderful testimony to him that so many people loved him. His life was lived fully by example of his Christian faith. Never having lost his energy or spirit, he kept the wonderful Resident Assistants at Elmcroft of Pensacola and all the staff of Vitas Hospice entertained and busy keeping up with him until the end. He will be sorely missed and forever cherished.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Caraway Brown and Joni Caraway, both of Pensacola, FL, sister-in-heart, Jo Nunley, brother-in-heart Tom Nunley (Joyce), daughter-in-heart, Carol Nunnari (deceased son Jim’s wife), daughter-in-heart Gayle Reidling, son-in-heart Charles Martin Brown, grandsons James Robert “Bud” Caraway III (Tracy), and Matthew Robert “Matt” Brown (Sabrina), granddaughter Cara “Marisa” Brown Williams (Donald), granddaughter-in-heart Casey Caraway, eleven great-grandchildren, Sean Michael Carrigan, Austin Robert Caraway, Whitney Spivey, Austin James Caraway, Chesney Brooke Caraway, Declan James Caraway, Marissa Ann Brown, Joseph “Noah” Brown, Caden Matthew Brown, Aubrey Elizabeth Willliams and Braxton Cody Williams. All of these he loved, and will be held closely in the hearts of all the lives he touched deeply.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service for James Robert Caraway, Sr. “Bob Caraway” will be held Saturday October 19th, 2019 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola FL, 32503 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends preceding the service at 2:00 P.M.
