Helen Janice McClarren

January 17, 1940 - August 18, 2021

Janice McClarren, age 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18, 2021. She was born January 17, 1940, to Charles and Carrie “Helen” O’Gwynn” in Pensacola, FL.

Janice is a graduate of Pensacola High School in 1958. In 1963, Janice went to work for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office in 1970, Janice married Terry McClarren, the love of her life. They adopted 2 children, a boy, and a girl. Janice was fortunate enough to be able to stay home and raise both of them. It was not until they began school, that she became the room mother, eventually working her way up to being a Teacher’s Aide. When her children went on to middle school, she continued working at the elementary school. At one point during her career, she became the Attendance Clerk at one of the local high schools. After a year of doing this, she realized her heart was in working in the elementary school with the students.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Terry R. McClarren, and her son, Trent R. McClarren. Left to treasure her memories is her daughter Ashley K. McClarren, sister Brenda Joyce O’Gwynn, sister-in-law Janet Karralus, daughter-in-law Candice Atkins McClarren Pugh (Brian) grandchildren John Briggs Pugh and Thomas Pugh, nephew Erik McClarren, Jeffrey Wilson (Andrea) great-niece and nephew Clare and Reid Wilson, nieces, Robin McClarren and Amy Bonczkowski (Steve), and many cousins.

Thanks to the wonderful caregivers that cared for Janice over the past couple of years; Sarah Durham, Molly Lewis, Tara Wassmer, and Sandra Washington. Also, the family expresses appreciation to Covenant Home Health and Hospice. Finally, I would like to thank Tommy and Elaine Moody, and Carol Fielden for all their support and help.

A celebration of Life will be held on August 28, 2021, at 1 pm for friends and family and 2 pm for the Memorial Service at Bayview Memorial. An online guestbook is available.
